Welcome to an increasingly irregular ThreeWorldWars update. I no longer
write as frequently because widespread email censoring by the largest email
service providers means only a handful receive these communiqués.
This edition is sent from Thailand. Long-time subscribers will know the
special affinity I've enjoyed with this South East Asian nation, but changes over the
past two years have shocked and distressed me. Read on for details.
What's In Store For You Today?
UN's Annan Honors King of Thailand: Another One Bites the
Dust
Having traveled widely, Thailand has long been one of my favorite
destinations. In the latter half of the '90's I spent 10 days a month in
Bangkok for almost 2 years. In mid-2004, I enjoyed a life-changing
sabbatical on Thailand's islands. My immersion in Thai culture has kindled a
profound appreciation for the Thai's gentleness, respect for others and
old-fashioned values. Thailand's King and Queen encourage moderation (even
paper napkins are a fraction the size of any Western equivalent) and debt-free,
simple, fulfilled living. Young and old, rich and poor, have a
well-grounded respect for their monarchy. Rural Thai people live life the
way I believe it was intended, and it has long been my intention to use
Thailand's islands as a safe haven when WW3 breaks out in Western nations.
But my glowing impression of Thailand changed recently, on returning to the
country almost 2 years since my last visit. Perhaps recent world events
have made me overly cynical. Perhaps I'm jaded by the gradual destruction
of places of scenic beauty worldwide. Perhaps I'm just getting old, but I
can't help noticing the increasing Western way of life spreading its tentacles into
previously virgin territory.
Consumerism fueled by easy credit has made even street stall vendors car
owners. Beach-front family bungalows, where I enjoyed breakfast under
coconut palms only two years ago, have been razed and replaced by
air-conditioned concrete behemoths. Heavily-applied make-up masks the
previously natural grace of Thai women, whose inner beauty has been destroyed by
Western-style magazines and TV.
To make matters worse, that bastion of globalization, the United Nations,
recently honored the King of Thailand with their first Human Development
Lifetime Achievement Award. On Friday, May 26, 2006, Koffi Annan honored
the King's 60th anniversary of rule
with
the award, thereby acknowledging to the world that Thailand is now fully
aligned with the Western globalization drive. What a sad day.
During the speech, Annan said that "Human development is about empowering
all people through education, through opportunity, through health care and
nutrition". Just the same way the average US and British citizen has
been empowered through:
- A dumbed-down education system, which produces zombie-like robots
incapable of creative, independent thought;
- Fake, short-lived opportunities created through artificial credit
expansion and access to easy debt;
- A health care system intent on generating profits for
pharmaceuticals, instead of vitality and health for individuals;
- Nutrition which benefits the bottom line of multi-national
corporations, instead of the individual (the number of obese Thai people now
walking the streets was unheard of 5 years ago - more than likely thanks to
their increased sugar and refined, processed foods consumption).
Nice one, King Bhumibol Adulyadej. I wonder how pleased your subjects
will be when they realize you've replaced your once-proud nation with a Western
farce. At least you have a UN plaque to show for your efforts.
For me, this trip has been a harsh reminder about how quickly a 'safe haven'
can become unsafe. I'll cover this in more detail under Safe
Havens.
Next Bilderberg Meeting: Weekend of June 9th, 2006
Speaking of globalization, the
next meeting of the secret, sinister cabal who meet annually to plan the
world's future will be held at the posh Brook Street Resort a few miles from
Ottawa, Canada, June 8-11.
High on the Bilderberg's secret agenda this year are oil prices and the
political upheaval in Latin America. When meeting last year in
Rottach-Egern, Germany, Bilderberg called for dramatic increases in the price of
oil. Oil prices started climbing immediately from $40 a barrel to $70.
Whether Bilderberg will call for still higher prices is unclear, but Henry
Kissinger and others had gleefully anticipated prices at $150 a barrel
a year ago.
Incidentally, is it purely coincidence that their meeting is just 2 days
after the sinister date
06/06/06? Perhaps they will be celebrating another disaster planned
according to occult dates and patterns.
Where is the Ultimate Safe Haven?
Here is an example of the most frequently asked question I
receive on an almost daily basis:
"Where could we be in terms of freedom in 5 or 10 years time? Will we go
to war with Iran? If so, will there be attacks on London (I live there)?
If you think there will be what should/could I do to help ensure my safety?
Where do you think is the safest place to be on earth?"
The difficulty with a question like this is that it involves predicting the
future. I cannot, and will never claim to be able to predict specific
future events. However, we can train our mind to identify trends and thus
take appropriate action. I cover this in some detail in the
Prepare section of the
ThreeWorldWars website.
That said, the more I travel to seek out safe havens, and the more questions of this nature I
receive, the more convinced I am that there is no single perfectly and
permanently safe haven anywhere
on planet earth.
Here's why...
Your safety during the coming tough times is dependent not on your
geographic location, but on your mental ability to adapt quickly.
The family able to assess their immediate environment and take rapid, massive
and informed action is the family that will survive. This is true whether
you are in a major metropolitan area or a remote self-sufficient hideaway.
The family that has spent years stockpiling food and building a nuclear
shelter is more likely to perish during an attack than a family which has
cultivated a mindset which allows them to leave possessions behind and get out,
come what may. It is unlikely that the average family can prepare for any
and every eventuality. The only effective preparation is to prepare one's
mindset, or even one's world view.

what we can expect during WW3.
I'd encourage you to read it and challenge yourself whether you're mentally
prepared for any and every eventuality. Being prepared doesn't mean
spending a fortune on freeze-dried food. Being prepared means training
your mind to know whether "fight-or-flight" is the most appropriate response.
That said, my current favorite safe havens are:
- The islands (not mainland) of SE Asia:
- Thailand
- Malaysia
- Cambodia
- Laos
- Vietnam
- Myanmar
- Indonesia
- Philippines
- New Zealand
- Fiji and surrounding islands
I would avoid the northern hemisphere completely, and East is better than
West, in my opinion. If you must remain near the US, Hawaii is a relatively
safe option until they start using it as a naval base.
Living Barcode-Free
I have long wanted to find an accurate measure of how successfully one has
opted out of 'the system'. By this I mean avoiding the scrutiny of Big
Brother, avoiding the trap of consumerism, sidestepping globalization, and
generally living a free and independent life. And here is one suggestion:
The number of bar codes you encounter in any given month is directly
related to your enslavement to 'the system'.
In other words, the more bar codes, the more you are a slave to 'the system', the less likely it is that you will
easily be able to adapt when the global economy crumbles. Why is this?
- You are more than likely overly dependent on the shelves of the local
grocery store being fully-stocked, come what may. The first items to
disappear during an economic meltdown are basics like toilet paper and
toothpaste - just ask anyone living in Zimbabwe.
- You are more than likely unaware of the huge volumes of fossil fuels burnt
to move food from areas of low-cost production to high-profit point of sale.
Distribution will be severely impaired during times of war, making food and
basics unavailable from your local grocery store.
- You are more than likely reliant on processed, convenience foods instead
of high quality, natural goods (which do not have bar codes if sourced
directly from the farmer).
So the challenge is to reduce your 'bar code moments'. Aim for no more
than 10 per month. It's not easy, but it can be done. Doing so will
test your ability to adapt when the crunch comes.

Wrapping Up
Despite my disappointment with the way Thailand is going,
it is still a fantastic part of the world to visit.
Don't let me dissuade you from visiting - we can still learn
much from the Thai way of life.
